Nearby seminarians attempted to keep him alive with CPR until rescue arrived. Police and rescue officials worked on the victim for 30 minutes in an attempt to save him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The perpetrator has not as yet been identified, although physical evidence has been found at the scene and eyewitness evidence.

Residents and students are becoming increasingly concerned about the violence in the community. Policing actions are suspected to be over-zealous; shoot first and ask questions later, a regularity among Berkeley policing actions. Students and parents are questioning the increasing danger their students are in and the lack of proper responsiveness of the police force. There is also the question of why young adults are turning to violence to resolve their interpersonal disputes instead of some other, more healthy way of addressing disagreements. It will only be responsible actions taken by families, students, school authorities and police agencies that can address this very difficult issue. Some Videos of Berkeley Shooting Cases in the Past
