SEO World Cup 2 - Timeline

By GraphiteX | October 3, 2008

October 01, 2008 marked the start of the SEO World Cup 2, another SEO contest organized by Busby Web Solutions. I’ve decided to join the said contest since Christmas is soon approaching and I’ll be needing cash for gifts, so that I wouldn’t need or hesitate to ask money from my parent’s this upcoming Christmas.

Likewise, it’s not the SEO contest that I’m involved in. There’s a lot more on the list, though, I have no assurance on where will I win nor will I even win? LOL! Kidding aside, here’s some of my website(s) or blog(s) that you might wanna visit:

Oh, before I forget something else. I’m also open for links exchanges right now. Feel free to contact me. :-)

Busby SEO Challenger Blog?

By GraphiteX | June 21, 2008

Recent ideas pops-out easily when I’m lying at my bed and doing nothing. So, I never feel sleepy most of the time due to certain stress for ideas. Now, I’ve been thinking to change the blog’s main title…

From

Busby SEO Challenge Blog

to

Busby SEO Challenger

So, what gave me the idea on changing it? Well, since it has a less number of characters and of course, it’s shorter compared to the other one. But still, both title contains the contest keyword. Now, I was wondering if I should pursue with this or not? Any inputs or could anyone give their side?

Leaderboard Outdated!

By GraphiteX | June 16, 2008

The contest organizer must be doing something else that might be the reason why the leaderboard is outdated? This image was taken last June 16 with a report last June 13 still seen on the leaderboard, here’s a screenshot:

Busby SEO Challenge Leaderboard Results last June 13

Note: Click the image for a large scale.

Well, I wonder if there would be a programmer that would be kind enough to help Brycec to code an automatic or a real-time leaderboard script. ;-)

Busby SEO Challengers disqualified?

By GraphiteX | June 16, 2008

Contest results were quite a mess since contestants have the urge to break the rules and some of them are “unaware” that their tactics we’re not proper as what is stated on the rules. Now, here’s a simple tip that will help and prevent you getting slashed out on the list.

Simply follow the rules!

No domain or subdomain names are allowed to contain the contest keyword like “busby“, “seo” and “challenge” but according to the contest organizer, it can be used in a folder name or as a directory name. Better make a recap on reading the rules again, so that you would be more up-to-date. Good luck! ;-)

Domain age on the SEO World Cup

By GraphiteX | June 12, 2008

The first of day of this month, June, marked the start of the Busby SEO Challenge wherein there are users who registered earlier and later than the said date. However, let’s go discuss some clarifications on the contest’s rules.

The rules stated issues about the use of domains: The competition is only open to domain and sub domain names that do not include the key phrase in any form. So, how about their age? I wonder. I visited their forum, to ensure that I can still cope-up with their discussions and updates on the board about the contest.

Now, what do we have here? I’m in luck! Someone already opened a topic about it already, so there would be no more waiting time again (which I do hate sometimes). Hmmmmm… Furthermore, BenjArriola raised up the query during the launch of the contest proper. And according to Brycec, the Forum Admin and contest organizer. We can use any domain names of any age which doesn’t contain any of the contest keywords whether it may be a subdomain or domain name. Hmmmmm, I wonder… Here’s a blockquoted statement on what he replied to one of the threads at the community forum:

The reasons we have allowed “any domain age” is this:

1) It allows anyone to enter. Some contestants may not have the money to purchase a brand new domain just for the purposes of a competition.

2) No one knew what the keyword is going to be - so all contestants would still need to start generating new content and correct backlinks in order to win.

3) If we did allow “only new domains” - then experienced campaigners will still make good use of old domains by placing links that point direct to there new website.

I hope this clarifies some of your queries.

Bryce

I hope that clarifies one of the contest rules on the on-going SEO contest. :-)

Three months duration?

By GraphiteX | June 9, 2008

This SEO contest dubbed as Busby SEO Worldcup just started last June 01 of the same year and said to end on the 31st of August of the same year also mid-day. And I was surprised because the contest runs in an unusual duration, I was wondering will all of the participants or contestants be active during the whole session or will some of them be lazy enough while the contest checkpoint or awarding nears by. Should I also conclude that, will those experts claim the top spots doing nothing nor their own “secrets”?

I also expect that majority of the population who joined the contest are craving for that prize at stake. But, will they ever get their selves at the top with those bullies around and also engaged on the contest. Well, this three month SEO challenge will be exciting and hope to meet new friends, learn and gain more experience on the track. Best of luck to everyone on the contest!
