Mario Lopez Lands New Sitcom
Television star and former Dancing with the Stars contestant Mario Lopez was recently given a new project to work on. Lopez, who participated on Dancing with the Stars’ season 3, will be starring alongside R&B singer Christina Milian on CW’s comedy pilot, Eight Days a Week.
Eight Days a Week, which airs in September, will feature Lopez as the smooth New York executive, Peter, and Milian as the beautiful career woman, Olivia, who is an assistant at an art gallery. Eight Days a Week has a theme similar to that of the film, The Devil Wears Prada and the highly-popular drama-comedy series, Ugly Betty.
A 33-year-old native of San Diego, California, Mario Lopez is an actor best known for his work on Saved by the Bell, where he played A.C. Slater. He then moved on to appear on numerous shows such as Pet Star, Pacific Blue, The Other Half, and Name your Adventure. He participated on season 3 of Dancing with the Stars and consequently appeared on programs such as Def Jam: Icon, Mind of Mencia and George Lopez.
Christina Milian, on the other hand, is a Grammy Award-nominated pop singer, songwriter, record producer and dancer, who appeared on television shows such as The Amanda Show, Charmed, Smart Guy, American Pie, A Bug’s Life, Be Cool, Veronica Mars and Man of the House.
Milian was once invited to participate on Dancing with the Stars, however, she declined the offer. The 25-year-old performer refused to take the chance to use her dance expertise on the celebrity competition because she believed that it would be devious to participate in it, as she had much advantage due to her numerous music videos and dance performances.
“I feel like I would be cheating if I did [the show] because, with the music videos and all the preparation [for them], I’ve done a lot of [dance] training,” she explained.
