The Housework Workout
The Housework Workout has 8 exercise tips to make your housework into a whole body workout. Every day there a chores that must be done, so it makes sense to turn those medial tasks into a fat burning, calorie shedding workout. If you can burn an extra 500 calories a day, then that's almost a pound a week (.4kg). You've go to do chores anyway, so give this a go and lose some fat while you do.
Of course you should only partake in exercise with the consent of a doctor, but once you're clear, speed up and blast off.
1. Vacuum Squats
As you vacuum the floor do split lunges. Lunge forward working the thigh (quadriceps) muscles and the buttocks (gluteals). Be sure to keep your back straight and your head facing forward. 2. Speed Cleaning
Did you just laugh?....Well, wiping the walls has never been so productive. Try to do it at a brisk speed and get your heart rate pumping. You'll also get it done faster - That's a good thing isn't it. 3. Mix In Some Push Ups and Crunches
In between chores complete a set of ab crunches or push ups or better yet - Both. It takes nothing to drop and give me 20, so pop a couple of sets of push ups in to your housework. 4. Mopping/Sweeping/Bouncing?
Employ the boxers bounce while mopping and sweeping, you'll get the job done twice as fast. - Bounce and float like a butterfly, you will burn a ton of calories and maybe you will sting like a bee. 5. Timed Chores
Make boring tasks fun (well sort of) by timing them and beating your best times. Whether it be dishes or laundry get them done fast and you'll burn fat and have some spare time left over to do more exercise. 6. Deep Breathing
Outdoor chores give you the perfect opportunity to do some deep breathing exercises and make the most of the fresh air. Oxygenate yourself and really get your body breathing in. Remember - Oxygen burns fat, they are like bitter enemies. 7. High Cleaning
Cleaning cobwebs from high indoor/outdoor areas can really work the shoulder muscle and add a few broomstick shoulder presses and you have a muscle toning workout. The Housework Workout has to include some of the jobs you hate to do. 8. Stretching
In between cleaning tasks, stretching is a great way to get blood flowing through the muscles and increase your flexibility. Stretching your muscles brings suppleness and increased muscle length/strength.
Be sure to make the most out of your medial jobs and remember that speeding through them will get the job done faster as well as giving you a workout.
